The Huso Wedding Awards: A Different Kind of Wedding in Hemsedal

Some weddings are beautiful. Others are fun. And then there are those weddings that are so well-planned, personal, and full of life that you still find yourself smiling when you think back on them.

This June weekend, we headed to Huso Lodge between Gol and Hemsedal—a truly unique wedding venue surrounded by mountains, nature, and plenty of space to create a weekend unlike any other.
From the very beginning, it was clear that this wasn’t going to be a traditional wedding.

The wedding ceremony took place outdoors, with the bride’s mother officiating. There were personal speeches, solo performances by close friends, and a custom-written song for everyone to sing along to the tune of *The Lion King*—and the atmosphere was simply magical. After the ceremony, the celebration continued with relaxed mingling around the lodge area. The fathers had brewed beer and cider; some took a dip or a walk in the pond, while others played garden games or enjoyed the mountain air with close friends.

Amid all the hustle and bustle, we slipped away to take some couple photos in the beautiful countryside around Huso. The mountains, the light, and the tranquility of the area provided the perfect backdrop for photos of the newlyweds before the day’s next surprise awaited them.

The theme of the evening was, in fact, “The Huso Wedding Awards.” Both the bride and groom and their guests changed into their finest attire, and the rest of the evening consisted of a red carpet, a paparazzi atmosphere, creative costumes, award presentations, laughter, dinner, and a party that truly set the bar. No one here showed up with half-hearted effort—everyone contributed to creating a truly unique experience.

As a wedding photographer, it’s impossible not to be inspired by weddings that dare to do things their own way. This weekend at Huso Lodge was a reminder of just how amazing a wedding can be when you create a celebration that reflects the personalities of the people at the center of it all.

Forhåpentligvis forteller bildene resten av historien <3
