Wedding Photographer in Trondheim: Outdoor Ceremony and Barn Wedding

Now in my thirteenth year as a wedding photographer, I’m constantly traveling around Norway to document love stories—and Trondheim is without a doubt one of the cities that has left a particularly lasting impression on me. Last year, I photographed a rather unique wedding in Trondheim—an atmospheric barn wedding with an outdoor ceremony, set against the beautiful September light of Trøndelag.

This couple chose an outdoor wedding, and the setting could hardly have been more beautiful. The groom’s mother had even joined the Humanist Association and obtained a marriage license so that she herself could marry her son and daughter-in-law on this glorious September day. Personal, intimate, and completely genuine.

The wedding was celebrated as a true barn wedding, with warm smiles, laughter, tears, and a wonderful atmosphere from morning until night. Beforehand, the couple had given me free rein as their photographer—they wanted me to experiment, be creative, and work in a more artistic rather than traditional style. Words like that make any photographer smile a little wider, and it gave me the freedom to really enjoy myself behind the camera.

For me, wedding photography is about capturing the atmosphere, emotions, and those moments that happen between the main events. Like, for example, when the brother-in-law suddenly hands out homemade shots to all the wedding guests. Those fleeting moments you can’t recreate. When there’s trust between the bride and groom and the photographer, that’s when the magic happens.
